Features
InfoPath Libraries
Just after 3.6 was released, we published a minor revision for supporting namespaces in XmlQuery statement. This simple addition allowed to query InfoPath forms fields that are not published as SharePoint columns. We have provided a complete article to explain how to achieve this.
Though the approach explained in the article makes it possible to solve some interesting scenarios it is somewhat limited in some areas. It involves using sub-reports and does not allow to handle 1-n relations in a single dataset which makes it difficult for analysis purposes or grouping based on non published fields.
Version 3.7 will provide a new statement dedicated to InfoPath Libraries and will let you query both Published and non Published form fields for getting data in a single dataset.
Claims Authentication
Enesys RS Data Extension is already known for its support for reporting services and SharePoint authentication schemes: Integrated Security, Stored Credentials, Forms Based Access with specified credentials.
Claims Authentication in SharePoint 2010 brings a new set of challenges, more specifically when using Reporting Services in SharePoint integration mode.
Enesys RS Data Extension 3.7 will provide support for Claims based web applications.
Item Versions Performance Improvement
Following the recent roll-up performance improvement when reports are run in SharePoint integration mode, you can expect significant performance improvements when retrieving item versions as long as reports are run in SharePoint Integration mode.
RollUpLists improvement
The RollUpLists statement lets you aggregate similar lists having the same name in an entire site collection (or a subset of the sites in the site collection). One limitation in the current version is that the schema of the final result set is inferred from the first list in the collection. Therefore, you have to ensure that the first list in the collection of list has all the necessary fields. This may not always be practical.
Version 3.7 will allow to specify the list that will be used as a reference for the schema of the resulting data.
Other features
Other features as well as User Interface improvements are being studied for possible inclusion in the next version. We will provide additional information in the weeks to come.
