You are able to preview a report, to export it using various formats but receive the following error message when exporting to PDF:

An error occured during local report processing. Object not set to an instance of an object.

Please ensure that you have applied latest Visual Studio and mostly SQL Server 2008 service pack. It includes a few fixes regarding PDF export.
